Who may qualify
You may qualify if you are a living U.S. resident who was identified by Doxim and sent a notice — by Doxim or by your credit union — that your information was involved in the incident. Being notified is the gate: the class is defined by the administrator's list, not by having banked at a credit union. The no-documentation option waives proof of losses, not that requirement.
What the settlement pays
You choose one of two cash options, not both: reimbursement of documented fraud or identity-theft losses traceable to the incident, up to $5,000, or an alternative cash payment estimated at $100 with no documentation. Either may be adjusted up or down pro rata depending on the total value of valid claims. On top of whichever you choose, you may also claim one year of free credit monitoring.
What happened
Around December 30, 2023, an unauthorized actor gained access to files held by Doxim, Inc. — the vendor that prepares account statements and tax forms for credit unions — exposing names, addresses, financial account numbers and Social Security numbers belonging to credit-union members. Doxim agreed to a $5,500,000 settlement to resolve the claims without admitting wrongdoing (E.D. Mich.). The court has preliminarily approved the settlement.
How to file
You can file with the settlement administrator yourself, and it is free. The official settlement site is here.
Most people who may qualify for one settlement may qualify for others they have never heard of. Cashout checks the open settlements against a few questions, keeps the official filing page and the requirements for each match in one place, and reminds you before a deadline.
Cashout is not a law firm and is not the settlement administrator. Final eligibility and payment amounts are determined by the settlement administrator, not by Cashout. Amounts shown are what the administrator or the settlement documents have published; they are not a promise of payment. Filing directly with the official administrator is always free.
Checking which settlements may apply to you is free. Cashout membership is optional and is a subscription: a 3-day trial for $0 or $1.00 today, then $19.99 every month, renewing automatically until you cancel. Which of these applies to you, and the exact date of the first charge, are shown at checkout before you enter a card. You can cancel anytime from your dashboard.
