Who may qualify
The class is every living U.S. resident whose personal information was caught in the breach California Casualty discovered in September 2025, including everyone sent a notice. Filing online requires the LoginID and PIN printed on that notice — if you cannot find yours, the administrator will reissue it by email on request, and a paper claim form can be mailed instead. The “no proof” option waives documentation of your losses, not the requirement that you were in the breach.
What the settlement pays
You choose one of two cash options, not both: reimbursement of documented out-of-pocket losses up to $4,000 for losses incurred between September 2, 2025 and November 16, 2026, which requires proof such as bank statements or receipts — your own notes alone are not enough — or a one-time $50 alternative cash payment that the administrator says needs “no proof or explanation.” On top of whichever you pick, every class member may enroll in two years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete credit monitoring with $1 million of fraud insurance. Payment follows final approval and any appeals.
What happened
A lawsuit alleged that a targeted cyberattack on California Casualty's systems in September 2025 reached files containing customers' personal information — names, Social Security and taxpayer numbers, driver's license numbers, dates of birth, medical and health-insurance details, passport numbers and financial account or payment-card numbers. California Casualty denies it did anything wrong and the court has not decided who is right; the parties agreed to settle (Amin et al. v. California Casualty Indemnity Exchange d/b/a California Casualty Group, No. STK-CV-UBT-2026-0003331, Superior Court of California, San Joaquin County). Simpluris is the court-approved administrator.
How to file
You can file with the settlement administrator yourself, and it is free. The official settlement site is here.
Most people who may qualify for one settlement may qualify for others they have never heard of. Cashout checks the open settlements against a few questions, keeps the official filing page and the requirements for each match in one place, and reminds you before a deadline.
Cashout is not a law firm and is not the settlement administrator. Final eligibility and payment amounts are determined by the settlement administrator, not by Cashout. Amounts shown are what the administrator or the settlement documents have published; they are not a promise of payment. Filing directly with the official administrator is always free.
Checking which settlements may apply to you is free. Cashout membership is optional and is a subscription: a 3-day trial for $0 or $1.00 today, then $19.99 every month, renewing automatically until you cancel. Which of these applies to you, and the exact date of the first charge, are shown at checkout before you enter a card. You can cancel anytime from your dashboard.
