Who may qualify
You may qualify if you bought — for personal use, not resale — a Bestway-branded pool 48 inches or taller with compression straps outside the support poles, sold from 2008 through 2024. That includes the Power Steel, Steel Pro and Coleman Power Steel lines. Second-hand buyers and anyone who bought to resell are excluded. No notice ID is needed and the $40 route asks for no documentation.
What the settlement pays
The administrator publishes two options. Without a receipt you receive a flat cash payment of $40. With a valid proof of purchase you instead receive 10% of either the price on the receipt or the pool's average retail price. Payments come out of the $15 million fund after notice costs, attorneys' fees and service awards.
What happened
A lawsuit alleged that Bestway-branded above-ground pools 48 inches or taller, sold from 2008 through 2024 with compression straps running outside the vertical support legs, created a potential drowning hazard, and that the 2025 recall Bestway ran with the Consumer Product Safety Commission was inadequate because it offered no money back. Bestway denies the pools are defective and denies any wrongdoing, and agreed to a $15,000,000 settlement to end the case (In re Bestway Above-Ground Pools Litigation, No. 1:25-cv-09570, N.D. Ill.). The settlement does not release or limit claims for personal injury or wrongful death, and it does not replace the recall.
How to file
You can file with the settlement administrator yourself, and it is free. The official settlement site is here.
Most people who may qualify for one settlement may qualify for others they have never heard of. Cashout checks the open settlements against a few questions, keeps the official filing page and the requirements for each match in one place, and reminds you before a deadline.
Cashout is not a law firm and is not the settlement administrator. Final eligibility and payment amounts are determined by the settlement administrator, not by Cashout. Amounts shown are what the administrator or the settlement documents have published; they are not a promise of payment. Filing directly with the official administrator is always free.
Checking which settlements may apply to you is free. Cashout membership is optional and is a subscription: a 3-day trial for $0 or $1.00 today, then $19.99 every month, renewing automatically until you cancel. Which of these applies to you, and the exact date of the first charge, are shown at checkout before you enter a card. You can cancel anytime from your dashboard.
